Titan

Next in the Grand Tour series we have a direct sequel to the book Saturn (http://jan.saell.org/blog/wp-admin/post.php?post=4508). Spacestation Goddard has arrived and made orbit around the ringed planet Saturn.

Chief administrator, Malcolm Eberly is planing the re-election campaign. His major opponent is Holy Lane, that is running against him. She gets help from here sister, Pancho Lane comes out to visit and stays on to help her with her election.

titanThe story has 3 main plotlines. First its about the election and the competition to win that between Eberly and Holy.

Secondly we have the Titan Alpha, it has touched down on the frigid surface of Saturn’s huge, smog-enshrouded moon Titan; unfortunately, though Alpha’s exploration of the surface proceeds as planned, the machine stubbornly refuses to communicate with its controllers or beam back information about what, if anything, it has discovered.

Thirdly we have Eberly’s big campaign promise is to make the colonists rich by mining Saturn’s rings for water. Exobiologist Nadia Wunderly, however, suspects that the rings contain lifeforms and hence should remain off-limits to human interference.

The people in the book is well written perhaps because we have all meet them in the book Saturn. There is a lot of non SciFi things here and as well as Saturn, this is a book about human interaction, perhapes not as much SciFi as a lot of other Grand Tour books.

You can find the book here on audible.
