I have payed STO (Star Trek Online) for quite some time now. I have been around for 637 days now so my 700 days awards is coming up fairly soon. I started to play roughly 4 month after the game when online and have been playing (and paying) since.

Even when the game went Free to Play I stayed on as a subscriber.

And the “Free to Play” changes has definitely make the game better I think. There are more players on line on the game than I have ever seen, and event if im not realy playing it as a MMO – im still not in a fleet, as the main social game I play is EVE, and that’s still my favourite game I love STO and the Trek feel of it.

This week they released a new mini mission “Hearts and Minds”.

Hearts and Minds

It all starts with a message from Franklin Drake (Starfleet officers) or K’Men (Klingon officers) to undertake this mission. Its a small mini mission that will only be avaliable during fridays the 13th, and its a but creepy and horror set.

Hearts and Minds takes place in the Donatu sector of the Eta Eridani sector block, at a lunar research station in the Donatu system.

Contact has been lost with Doctor Sibak, a Vulcan priest, who studies psionic phenomena. He went into seclusion on a remote research station in the Donatu system. He hasn’t ben heard from in a while so you are being sent to check on him.

You’ll need to travel to the Donatuy System where you’ll beam down to the Donatu Prime Lunar Research Station with one bridge officer.

First thing you will encounter is a hallway with 2 laser turrets, and when you atack them the abandon station computer core will initiate a quarenteen protocol, and you need to disable/override that.

When you have destroyed the 2 laster turrets you and use the panel and align the isolinear chips. The picture shows what it should look like when the puzzle is solved.

This little mini puzzle is going on and you might get killed, but dont worry. You can respawn and get back at it.

if you want to solve it quickly you do it by:

• Column 2 Down
• Row 1 Right
• Row 1 Right
• Column 1 Down

After that you need to continue and explore the station. And find  Doctor Sibak and figure out what’s going on.

First thing you will see in the next room is a corps that someone has performed and autopsy on. Then you need to find the datapads in the room in the corridor to left.

They definitely gives clues that Doctor Sibak was doing some kind of psionic experiment.

Well the story contines, not much fight but a well and a bit scary storie to be plays on a friday 13:th.

You have about 3 rooms to explore after the fist room and corridor. All in gloomy dark and quite Friday the 13:th.

And yes you will find out what happend to Doctor Sibak and what he was doing.

When you finnish the story you get some rewards.

You will get a Vulcan Lirpa [Psi][Stn]. This weapon will give psionic damage as well as the normal damage.

You will also get a Duty Offices, and without revealing to much of the plot this one will also give you some extra bonuses towards psionic capabilities.

This was a small impression of this weeks new mission in STO.

Its a very quick one and quite nice so definitely worth playing.
